Nektarios Therapeutic and Assessment Approach
Nektarios strives to be authentic, warm, and caring when conducting assessment work, knowing that most people can be very anxious when undergoing comprehensive Autism, ADHD, and cognitive assessments, given how revealing these assessments are of someone’s personality, overall thinking styles and processes, and their abilities and potential.
Nektarios has received formal training in providing neuroaffirming assessments and reports, and he has helped a lot of individuals to access the support they need based on the assessments and reports produced for his clients.
Nektarios is also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), drawing on elements of psychodynamic and family systems approaches, and he is able to understand an individual’s challenges from cognitive, intrapersonal, and family environment perspectives, which enables him to provide recommendations, direction, and advice that can be life-changing.
Experience
Nektarios has served as a Senior Clinician (Psychologist) in various services in the Northern Territory, including Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), corrections, adult mental health, and the Department of Education. His experience includes conducting multidisciplinary diagnostic assessments for neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism, ADHD, and Intellectual Disability, performing psycho-educational evaluations for conditions like dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, and assessing individuals with both Autism/ADHD and advanced intellectual abilities (Twice-Exceptional profiles).
Nektarios utilises Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, along with psychodynamic and family therapy approaches. He holds a PhD in Psychology and has published research in international, peer-reviewed journals. He is fluent in Greek and can offer psychology services to Greek speakers; however, his availability is currently limited to assessment services.
